£46,000 in compensation claims paid by police in Bedfordshire

It is revealed by a freedom of request that a total of £45,894 in accident at work compensation has been paid by the Bedfordshire Police Force to employees injured while on duty.

A female Priority Crime Officer, who received £10,000 after she fell and hit her head after the back of her office chair snapped was the recipient of the largest payment.

Other successful claims included £5,000 paid to an officer who slipped on a wet toilet floor and a crime investigation officer was awarded £7,300 after falling down stairs when a handrail collapsed.

£4,875 were received by a Public Protection Officer after burning his hand while away on a training course at a RAF base , while  an Emergency Response Officer who put his hand through a glass pane when responding to a 999 call was given £2,052 as compensation.

The force’s insurers always investigated the Work related accidents, after considering each case on an individual basis, said a spokesperson for the Bedfordshire Police.
