After tripping on an uneven pavement and consequently, suffering serious personal injury, A Hull grandmother is to claim compensation from her local council.
As a consequence of the accident, Jean Stephenson, 58, from the Ings Road estate, in East Hull, was hospitalised for two days after tripping over a drain lid, which was sunk four inches below pavement level.
Suffering serious injury Mrs Stephenson, broke bones in both of her hands and fractured her elbow in the fall, she also suffered a black eye and is now reliant on carers to help her get dressed, eat and wash.
According to Mrs Stephenson, the objective of her legal action is to ‘wake up’ the council so that an attempt is taken to improve the area.
