Israelis Storm Turkish Aid Ship Bound for Palestine

Israeli armed forces have stormed a ship carrying almost 10,000 tonnes of aid to Palestinians today, resulting in 10 deaths and worldwide political outrage. The ship was heading to the Palestinian territories to highlight the poor efforts of the Israelis in providing aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli forces made multiple efforts to force the ship to turn back before storming it.

The Israelis have claimed that their forces were attacked upon boarding the ship, with the country's Defence Ministry claiming that the protestors attacked the soldiers with knives and metal bars before trying to "lynch the security forces". Despite this, the attacks have still received international condemnation and have put further strain on the already tense relationship between Israel and the US, as well as potentially alienating Israel from Turkey, its most prominent Muslim ally.

The ship carried thousands of tonnes of aid, as well as over 600 civilians, including at least 28 Britons. The ship also housed a holocaust survivor, a Noble laureat and an 18 month old child.
