Ubani Case Resolved with £40,000 Compensation Payment

The long running Ubani case, in which David Gray, 70, was injected with a massive overdose of diamorphine by German doctor Daniel Ubani, has finally been resolved with the family of the victim receiving £40,000 compensation for his death as a result of medical negligence.

Doctor Ubani was on his first shift for a GP out-of-hours personal service when he visited Mr Gray at his home and injected him with the lethal dosage, giving him ten times the recommended amount.

Stuart Gray, the victim's son, said that "My father was killed and £40,000 does seem a small sum for the loss of a life, especially when compared to countries like the US...However, we've never been interested in the money. The major issue for us is pressing for a change to regulations in this country to prevent a repeat of the situation that led to my father's death"

The family have since lodged a complaint with the European Court of Rights over the handling of the case.
